Aersync FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Aersync work with my dust extractor?

Yes — Aersync is designed to work with most dust extractors.

If your machine uses an electromagnetic switch, sometimes referred to as a No-Volt Release (NVR) switch, the NVR will need to be bypassed for any controller to operate the motor automatically. This isn’t specific to Aersync — it’s simply how NVR safety switches are designed.

Bypassing the NVR is a straightforward adjustment, but because it involves wiring, we recommend having a licensed electrician carry it out if needed. Once set up, Aersync will handle the switching automatically, giving you the full hands-free experience.

If the NVR is bypassed and the power goes out, will my dust extractor turn on by itself when power returns?

No — your dust extractor will not automatically restart when power is restored. Aersync only operates the motor if there’s a valid signal from the remote control or if Aersync detects that a connected tool is in use.

This means Aersync provides the same peace of mind as an NVR: your extractor won’t start up unexpectedly after a power outage. You stay in control, with the added benefit of smart automation.

Why does the NVR need to be bypassed?

Machines with NVR switches are designed to stop power from flowing automatically after it’s interrupted. For Aersync (or any controller) to switch your extractor on and off automatically, the NVR must be bypassed. This requirement comes from the machine’s design, not from Aersync itself.

Is bypassing the NVR safe?

Bypassing the NVR simply removes that restart-prevention feature. Since Aersync won’t power the extractor without a valid signal, it provides the same safeguard against unwanted start-ups. For extra peace of mind, we recommend having a licensed electrician handle the wiring if bypassing is needed.

Can I still use Aersync without bypassing the NVR?

Yes — but the extractor will require a manual reset after each power interruption. This limits the hands-free automation experience, which is why most users choose to bypass the NVR.

What tools are compatible with Aersync?

The controller is compatible with any tool, such as cutting, sanding, and planing tools, as long as they operate with standard 10A power sockets.
